The Boy I: Leaving Home
02:04
|
|||
As I stand beside the ocean,
Waving goodbye to you,
The waves run up and soak my shoes,
So I guess I'll have bare soles for the walk home,
It's not that far and after this nothing my body could do,
Will ever seem hard,
Like a soldier going off to war,
Like a sailor who just might go overboard,
I make my peace with the worst of outcomes,
Although, if we are speaking true, the ocean in storm,
Is a lot less scary than you,
I'm leaving and I'm not coming back

The Boy II: The Meeting
03:42

I walk quickly through the desert at night,
Sand is everywhere but in my eyes,
Such a shame, there's almost nothing to see,
I relax and let the bright stars guide me,
To a location hidden in the sky,
As I move, they don't get any closer,
Or farther away,
Which is more than I can,
Often say, about the things that I track,
Hunt down, and steal
In the day I bury myself away,
The desert heat is way too much for a,
native of the true north far away,
Not long after I lost count of days,
I could see mountains through the haze,
As I move, they don't get any closer,
Or farther away,
Which is more than I can,
Often say, about the things that I track,
Hunt down, and steal [ohoh]
In the foothills of those, snow capped giants,
I met a traveling bard who walked with me
And sang the saddest songs
We smoked some funny things,
But he told stranger stories,
Some of love, some of war, some with shiny knights,
and dragons fire, maidens fair, kings of old and beasts that stalk the night
They gave me peace and hope those stories
And I think he knew, because before he left
He turned to me and said
Ever after, never came
for anyone in my stories
I gave you an ending
Was it good enough?
Did it make a part of you feel complete?
Well I hope so, because I have never told a tale,
sung a song, that's done that for me

The Boy III: Home Again
02:25
|

My feet are sore and I can't believe I'm nearly home,
But there's the stone where you almost slipped and said you loved me
Through a desert, up a mountain, went from sea to sea,
Committed deeds that you would not believe
I got lost for a while, now I'm not and I can say
That I'd rather stay, in complete disarray
I knew I'd find you by the bay with the ocean breeze,
Playing gently with your hair as you're on your knees
Forgot what god you pray to
Said I'm back, not for long, fact I leave tonight
Grab some things I'd sure like it if you came with me
Let's get lost for a while, forget our names and
Have wild grand adventures, the likes that you'd never know
If you'd stayed home

The Bard I: Embarking
04:00
|
|||
I've had a hard time trudging to find my fortune
It's been two weeks and I have not seen,
One living soul, though the vultures argue over,
Former travelers of this road
I met an old man, harp on his back, blood on his lips
And he said son, I'm done, but have I
Got a deal for you
The power to make people whole, someone new
And all that I ask in return, is the tiniest
Little piece of your soul
To make me whole before I leave
To sleep in never ending dreams
So now that you have, a spirit shy of complete
You'll know what notes to play
What words to say, and most importantly
In just exactly the right way
You can rest easy, this burden is nothing to me
I'll carry it always, breaking this sad
Circle of tragedies, and I'll let you know
Just a few more things before you go
Suzanne loved you always, but did not miss you one single day
She moved on, found a man, settled down, and had kids right away
You spent your days just as well as you could
Now drift off right here no longer misunderstood

Just calm down, I'll tel you once more
That boy he lives still, and he's coming for you
Did you notice, that boy is broken
I fixed the one half, and then sent him home
So you could finish my work
As he's the only one I failed to fix
Mending a soul with words that may or may not be true
That's something that most people find, hard to do
I could have, and I didn't, so don't you dare
Save that boy's soul,
with the truth, if you're able
Make him whole if you can
but I will understand,
if you have to break him again
Save that boy's soul,
with the truth, if you're able
Make him whole if you can
but I will understand,
if you have to break him again
